It’s been a while, I know 😔.
Since my last post, I have joined a new school (online home-school) 😁👌!
So far it has been really good Alhamdulillah, if you want to know more about it, let me know and maybe I could do a post on it?
Anyhow, today’s post is going to be about the virtues of some Beautiful Adkhar, ᵖ.ˢ ˢᵒᵐᵉᵒⁿᵉ ᵉˡˢᵉ ʷʳᵒᵗᵉ ᵐᵒˢᵗ ᵒᶠ ᵗʰᶦˢ ᵖᵒˢᵗ ⁽ᴵ ʲᵘˢᵗ ᵗʷᵉᵃᵏᵉᵈ ᶦᵗ ᵃ ᵇᶦᵗ⁾.
There are so many amazing Adkhar. Here are a few to encourage us to say them and know their benefits. InshaAllah you learn something new, but if not then I hope this serves as a reminder …. Reminders benefit the believers right?
- Prophet (saw) said:
He who utters: ‘Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi ‘ one hundred times a day, his sins will be obliterated even if they are equal to the extent of the foam of the ocean.– [Bukhari and Muslim]
· Glory and Praise be to Allah
· Allah is free from imperfection
· Allah is Perfect
· Think of Allah’s grandeur
· His is the praise
· He deserving of All Praise
· Praise is to Him/to Him belongs all Praise
2. Zaid ibn Harithah narrated that the Prophet (saw) said:
Whosoever says: ‘Astaghfirullaha al-ladhi la ilaha illa huwa Al-Hayy al-Qayyum wa atubu illayh,’ his sins will be forgiven even if he should have run away from the battlefield.– [Abu Dawud and authenticated by Al-Albani]
The amount of times to be recited isn’t stated – recite as many times as you can/want.
3. Abu Hurairah (ra) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,
The uttering of the words: ‘Subhan-Allah wAl-hamdu lillah waLa ilaha illallah wAllahu Akbar’ is dearer to me than anything over which the sun rises.– [Muslim]
· Allah is free from imperfection
· All praise is due to Allah
· There is no god except Allah
· No deity worthy of worship except Allah
· Allah is the only one worthy of worship
· Allah is the Greatest
· Allah is greater than everything
Saying these words is dearer to the Prophet (saw), more than whatever is contained within this universe!
The fact they are dear to the Prophet (saw) should encourage us to recite them as we want to be close to the Prophet (saw) and Allah (swt). This can be a means of showing our love for the Prophet (saw) and Allah (swt).
Number of times to be recited not stated – can recite as much or little as we want, whenever we want – just ensure we recite it.
4. Abu Hurairah (ra) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He who recites after every prayer: Subhan-Allah thirty-three times; Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah) thirty-three times; Allahu Akbar thirty-three times; and completes the hundred with: La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa ‘ala kulli shai-in Qadir, will have all his sins pardoned even if they may be as large as the foam on the surface of the sea.”– [Muslim]
5. Allah Himself protects us, when we recite this Ayah:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
Whosoever recites Ayat al-Kursi after every Salah, only death is stopping him from entering paradise.– [Nasaa’i]
Both Surah Fatiha and Ayat-ul-kursi are amazing in their own regards. One of the differences is that Surah Fatiha is a dua where we are praising Allah (swt) where thereafter we seek guidance.
However, in Ayat-ul-kursi, we are solely praising Allah without specifically or directly asking Allah for anything.
6. Abu Hurairah (ra) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever sits in a gathering and indulges in useless talk and before getting up supplicates: ‘Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Anta, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilaika’ he will be forgiven for (the sins he may have intentionally or unintentionally committed) in that assembly.”– [At-Tirmidhi]
7. Juwairiyah bint Al-Harith (ra), the Mother of the Believers, reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) came out from my apartment in the morning as I was busy in performing the dawn prayer. He came back in the forenoon and found me sitting there. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Are you still in the same position as I left you.” I replied in the affirmative. Thereupon the Prophet said, “I recited four words three times after I had left you. If these are to be weighed against all you have recited since morning, these will be heavier. These are: Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, `adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinatah `arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi.– [Muslim]
8. Ibn Mas’ud (ra) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “I met Ibrahim (ﷺ) on the Night of Ascension (Al-Asra), and he said to me: ‘O Muhammad, convey my greetings to your Ummah, and tell them that Jannah has a vast plain of pure soil and sweet water. It is a plain levelled land. The plants grow there by uttering: Subhan-Allah, Al-hamdu lillah, La ilaha illallah and Allahu Akbar.”– [At- Tirmidhi]
9. Abu Hurairah (ra) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He who utters a hundred times in a day these words: ‘La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa ‘ala kulli shayin Qadir’ he will have a reward equivalent to that for emancipating ten slaves, a hundred good deeds will be recorded to his credit, a hundred of his sins will be blotted out from his scroll, and he will be safeguarded against the devil on that day till the evening; and no one will exceed him in doing more excellent good deeds except someone who has recited these words more often than him.– [Bukhari and Muslim]
Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (ra) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “He who utters ten times: ‘La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahulmulku wa lahulhamdu, wa Huwa ‘ala kulli sha’in Qadir’ he will have a reward equal to that for freeing four slaves from the progeny of Prophet Isma’il.”– [Bukhari and Muslim]
10. Abu Hurairah (ra) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “There are two statements that are light for the tongue to remember, heavy in the Scales and are dear to the Merciful: ‘Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, Subhan-Allahil-Azeem.’ “[Bukhari and Muslim].
Bonus (11)! Sayyidul Istighfar
Shaddad bin Aus (ra) said:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The best supplication for seeking forgiveness (Sayyid-ul- Istighfar) is to say: ‘Allahumma Anta Rabbi, la ilaha illa Anta, khalaqtani wa ana ‘abduka, wa ana ‘ala ‘ahdika wa wa’dika mastata’tu, a’udhu bika min sharri ma sana’tu, abu’u laka bini’matika ‘alayya, wa abu’u bidhanbi faghfir li, fa innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa Anta. ‘– [Bukhari]
He who supplicates in these terms during the day with firm belief in it and dies on the same day (before the evening), he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah; and if anyone supplicates in these terms during the night with firm belief in it and dies before the morning, he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah.”
Translation of dua: O Allah! You are my Rabb. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge the favours that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon.
